UGA Philosophy Cafe

Flyer for Philosophy Cafe

Starting this Sunday, September 13, Dr. Sarah Wright (Philosophy) and Dr. Ruth Harman (Department of Language and Literacy Education) will be hosting a Philosophy Cafe at Athentic Brewing Co. The Cafe, held from 6:30-8:00 PM on the second Sunday of every month, is a public discussions on everyday ethical problems. Be sure to come out to the inaugural event or to one of the following ones and join in a lively conversation about ethics!

At the Cafe, consider: Is it ok to ignore your drama-prone friend?  To lie to children about Santa Claus?  To gossip?  We will be addressing these cases of Everyday Ethics, using the same kinds of reasoning that we might use for weighty moral choices, but here used to think about everyday conundrums.  We will focus on questions of what these small behaviors reveal about ourselves and our characters.

WHEN: September 13, 6:30-8:00 PM (and the 2nd Sunday of every month thereafter)
