Lavender is First Recipient of Harrison Scholarship

large_HarrisonTHMNAIL_1.jpgJordan Lavender is the first recipient of the Harrison scholarship.  Established in honor of Frank Harrison, Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor and Undergraduate Coordinator, the scholarship offers an annual award of one thousand dollars to a junior or senior level undergraduate student majoring in Philosophy who demonstrates a strong interest in the Philosophy of Religion and shows excellent academic achievement. 

small_JordanLavender.jpg“I am very honored to be the first recipient,” says Lavender who  intends to pursue a Ph.D. in philosophy,  the scholarship will help fund his preparation for graduate school. “I am fascinated by several topics in Philosophy of Religion, including the nature of God, the problem of evil, and the epistemology of religious belief," he continues. “I am also very interested in the implications of work in Philosophy of Religion for other areas of philosophy (political philosophy, ethics, philosophical anthropology) and for human belief and practice in general.”
