Ricardo Abend has been selected as this academic year's Hart Scholarship recipient. The Daniel Hart Memorial Scholarship recognizes junior or senior-level students who exhibit a broad intellectual curiosity and philosophical creativity. A native of Venezuela, Abend transferred to UGA in 2011. He plans to continue his studies in Philosophy at the graduate level and the scholarship award will help fund his applications to Ph.D. programs. “What drew me to study philosophy is the desire to know and understand what some of the greatest thinkers in history have said concerning matters which interest me deeply, such as God, language, being, the mind, the self, and so on,” says Abend. “I am particularly fascinated by the history of philosophy, from its beginnings to its current developments.” For more info on the Hart Scholarship, click here.
