Inside-Out Sp2026

The deadline to apply to participate in the Spring 2026 Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program via enrollment in PHIL 3700S (Criminal Justice Ethics) or SOCI 4470S (Seminar in Deviance & Social Control) is October 20--click here for course & application details.

Inside-Out is an opportunity for a small group of students from UGA and a group of residents at the Clarke County Jail to exchange ideas and perceptions about crime and justice, the criminal justice system, corrections, and imprisonment. This "experiential learning" opportunity follows the educational model of the Inside Out Prison Exchange Program, an international model that "increases opportunities for men and women, inside and outside of prison, to have transformative learning experiences that emphasize collaboration and dialogue, inviting participants to take leadership in addressing crime, justice, and other issues of social concern..." Inside-Out classes have been taught at over 160 colleges and universities nationwide since 1997. Learn more about recent UGA students' experiences in this program.
